About Wireless Access

Wireless access is sweeping the nation, through HotSpots, residential and business services.

It's obvious why wireless would be handy if you happened to be traveling and needed to get online, but why would wireless be right for you as your primary Internet service?

Wires and wires: If you are a current dial-up, cable or DSL customer and are not connecting wirelessly through a router, you and your computer are tied to wherever your wires are located. Running more wires is time-consuming and messy. Wireless Internet access coming into your home gives you freedom to move around your house.

Thinking of going wireless: If you're still thinking about going wireless using either DSL or cable, you will need to research and purchase a router, potential equipment for your computer, and then set it up. You'll also need to know about security, because home routers are easy prey for those who are stealing bandwidth, or potentially your private information. AmericanWiFi will be setup for you with a secure private network that will be resistent to attackers. We will ask that you purchase or lease an outside antennae box that will make your signal strong and powerful. We will set the system up for you.

Some computers come ready for Wireless from the manufacturer; some will require hardware installations. If your computer or laptop is ready for wireless, it's very simple to search for a connection and connect.

If your computer is not connected to wireless currently and/or does not have wireless capability, call one of our technicians for advice on the appropriate hardware you may need.
